Huhn im Salzmantel

P1050801

This recipe is fun to cook and an adventure for the whole family. From preparing  to eating it.

I have prepared this chicken recipe some years ago and I have set up the chicken before going to church and when we came home we were welcomed by a lovely smell and the kids spoke for a long time  about the demolition of the salt crust.

P1050805

It is a Jamie Oliver recipe and I remember well when he spoke about a dash of salt and  used 3 kg!
You can find the recipe
here!

Das Huhn auf dem Salzgemisch betten

Bed the chicken on the salt mixture

2 Stunden backen / bake for 2 hours

P1050808

That’s the way it looks after 2 hours and under the crust there is a perfect chicken!

Also ausprobieren und schmecken lassen / try and taste

Bis bald / see you

Crazy BOM April 2010

 P1050785

Here you can see the traces of a relaxing evening!

P1050787

Here you can see the fruits of some relaxing evenings!
I liked Simone’s design for April so much that I have already finished the sewing and the stitching. (February and March are sewed but not yet stitched.)
Some of the stitches are from here and it was lots of fun doing them.

Bis bald / see you

UFO Abbau Nummer 3

 P1050777

Slowly it is getting boring, but this UFO reduction is again about Pia’s quilt. This time you can see it as a whole. When I saw the picture I realised that there is a mistake in the arrangements of the blocks, shit happens and to cite my Grandfather: “Who looks to closely is already a rascal!“ Sounds true to me ;)
It is my goal to finish the quilt till the end of June,it is already partly quilted but there is still a lot to do!
The backside fabric is from here, it is a blue 2,7 m wide flanell.

P1050778

My dear niece Sabine brought me some fabrics from India and they are crying:  “Cut us and make something beautiful out of us!” Well, they demand a great deal of me, but I guess it will not be hard to meet their requirements….

Paisleys waren schon immer meine Favoriten.

Some details, don’t you get the feeling you have to grab your needle and try those stitcheries? Paisleys always were some of my favourites!

I wish you all a nice (hopefully) long weekend, see you soon!

Brückenlauf und Grillerei 1.Mai

P1050719

P1050715

On the first of May there is always a run in Leobersdorf (10km) and some members of my family take part in this run and the others join us for a BBQ. BBQ on the first of May is one tradition  and it is another tradition  that some of our guests fall into the pond. This time it happened to Leena, Pia, Leena’s friend (including his chair)and my DH. The water was cold, only 12 degrees, that’s why they fell only once.
I love it, when they have to change often and I have a lot of guests at home!

On Sunday it is Mother’s Day and here is a great receipe, it works fine, try it and treat your Mum and don’t tell her how easy it was!

Biskuitroulade

8 Eier
8 EL Kristallzucker
8 EL (griffiges) Mehl

Sponge Roulade

8 eggs
8 spoonfull of sugar
8 spoonfull of flour

Beat the whites and then add the sugar, beat until firm , then add the yolks and finally the flour. Works best with a kitchen machine.

P1050658

Spread the dough on a baking sheet and bake with 180 degrees for 20 minutes until the dough is golden brown, don’t forget to test with a needle!

P1050659

Fetch the baking sheet fom the ofen and lay it upside down on a wet dish towel. Other methods put sugar on the towel, but I prefer the wet dish towel method.
When you spray some water onto the baking sheet it will pull off easier.

P1050660

Mit Marillen(Aprikosen) - Marmelade bestreichen

Spread some apricot jam

P1050661

Roll it with the help of the dish towel as long as it is warm!

P1050673

Et voilà, a quick picture, the roulade doesn’t stay for long, and even the dog is a danger for it!

I wish you all a lovely week and a wonderful Mother’s Day!

Michi :)
